Hello,
I am a homeschooling mom living in Livermore, California. I have three daughters (homeschooled since birth) who have participated in six month language immersion exchanges to France. My daughters are now 12, 14 and 16 years old. They did not speak more than a few words of French when they began their exchanges, they returned fluent. They had wonderful, life changing experiences in Europe and because of this I have agreed to be En Famille’s representative in the United States.
En Famille — www.enfamille.com – is approved by the UNSE and has arranged more than 2,000 exchanges for children between the ages of 9 and 16 years old.
En Famille, a non-profit French organization, arranges 3 to 6 month language immersion exchanges to France, Germany and Spain.
I would like to tell you about our program so you can decide if parents from your homeschool group would be interested in hearing about it. I understand that it is not for every family, or even most families, but for some families it is an exciting opportunity.
En Famille is not like other exchange organizations. Here are a few ways we are different:
§ Two children are matched and become exchange siblings. They spend 6 to 12 months together, 3 to 6 months in each home/country.
§ It is not necessary for the exchange child to have any ability in the target language.
§ Most En Famille exchanges take place with children between the ages of 9, 10 and 11, although we accept children up to 16 years old.
§ En Famille is not an American organization. It is a French non-profit with a mission to bind families across cultures. Families become fused in a wonderful way. Many families continue exchanging children in the summer and even vacation together.
I have attached a document for your review. Let me know if you would like to discuss this program.
Sincerely,
Karen Roddy
